My prayers go out to DJ AM, Travis Barker, and the ones who didnt make it...

CNN:

Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and disc jockey Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein were in critical condition with extensive burns Saturday after a jet crash the night before that killed four people, authorities said.

Lexington County Coroner Harry O. Harman said all the dead were Californians. He identified them as pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills; co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad; Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City; and Charles Still, 25, of Los Angeles.

The National Transportation Safety Board has sent team to Columbia, South Carolina, to investigate the crash.

The Learjet 60 crashed on takeoff at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport at 11:53 p.m. Friday.

Beth Frits, spokeswoman at the Joseph Still Burn Center, in Augusta, Georgia, said Barker and Goldstein arrived at the hospital early Saturday. She said both men had "extensive burns." Video Watch charred wreckage of the plane »

Barker and Goldstein had played at a huge free outdoor concert in Columbia's Five Points district on Saturday night, CNN affiliate WIS-TV said.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said the twin-engine, private jet was cleared for takeoff on a flight to Van Nuys, California, and began its takeoff roll a few minutes before midnight.

Air traffic controllers "saw sparks coming from the runway -- whether that was from the aircraft or its engines, we don't know," Bergen said Saturday.

"They overran the end of runway 11. They impacted the antenna array and a number of lights at the end of the runway. They went through the perimeter fence and across the roadway here," said NTSB spokeswoman Debbie Hersman, briefing reporters on Saturday. "There was a significant post-crash fire."

William Owens told WIS-TV he was driving down Highway 302 when he said he saw a fireball go across the road.

"I didn't know what I had seen -- it was maybe 800 feet in front of me, but as I approached it closer though, I made out a fire. By then I was able to see the tail of the jet and I recognized it as a jet," Owens said.

Owens told the station he tried to get to the wreckage.

"It's in flames and the fuel is running across the road and I had to cross the fuel to get to the two guys that seemed to have been dumped on the highway," Owens said.

Owens told WIS-TV the two men were running around and pulling off clothing to put out the flames. He said he asked them if anyone else was on board the plane and they said four people were with them.

"We turned to the jet to try and see if there was anything we could do, but immediately, there was nothing anyone could do," Owens said.

The airport was closed Saturday morning, and Hersman said the NTSB was working as quickly as possible to document the evidence on the runway and other airport property, so the airport could re-open.

She said investigators would look at every aspect of the crash, from the pilots' schedules to the aircraft's condition. She said it was a fairly new airplane, which was manufactured in 2006 and certified to operate in 2007.

In addition to playing with Blink-182, Barker appeared in the MTV reality show "Meet the Barkers," along with his wife at the time, former Miss USA Shanna Moakler, according to MTV's Web site.

Groove Armada - "Get Down" (Jay Dabhi remix)

Last year when Groove Armada released their single "Get Down", I got contacted to do a remix for it. They were looking for an "Eastern" take on the song... how that turned into an Indian/Arabic sounding Circuit House record is beyond me... it got alot of play on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Asian Network... shout out to Nihal from BBC Radio 1 for the hookup.

I heard the original on NYC's dance station Pulse 87 so im assuming the single is getting pushed in the States now. Reminded me about the remix that I had done so here it is...

Classic: St Etienne - "Only Love Can Break Your Heart"

Havent heard this in ages...

and of course the MAW remix:

Droppin some heat!

So a friend of mine who came across this blog said what can be interpreted as "like duuude, are u gonna blog about your bowel movements?" (what up Juju!)

Of course im not gonna post about my bowel movements but I can offer you some advice... cop this at your local organic/tea/tree hugger shop:

Advice to djs... dont drink this before a gig. It takes a few hours to start working so if u decide to drink this before u hit the club, by the time youre ready to drop that 1 am jumpoff, you'll probably be ready to drop some other heat as well so wait till u get home or get someone to takeover for you... But yuck, who'd take a dump at a club?

OK.. enough of this... back to being serious.

Big Up Pulse 87 FM!!!

Theyre broadcasting live right now from Jonathan Peters Underwear Party at Pacha. Radio hardly broadcasts live from a club these days. This reminds me of when I was a kid and I would stay up all night recording live dj sets from Palladium, Limelight, Emerald City, Carbon, etc... or when Armand Van Helden used to dj from 4-6am on KTU and I used to drive home after djing a club in my late teens and stay in my car to listen to his set only to fall asleep in the middle of it double parked in front of my house...lol

JP is killing it right now. Thank you Pulse 87! Makes me want to head out and be on the dancefloor, but im gonna be good and stay in and enjoy my Sunday at Central Park to see Santogold and DJ A-Trak tomorrow.

This is bangin: Magic System - Zouglou Dance

Magic System are dope. Their old record with Mohamed Lamine "Un Gaou Oran" is a favorite of mine.

This is their new track...

I have an old house record from the 90s that has that same melody... someone in America like Pitbull needs to get on this for the English/Hip Hop market...

Friday, July 18, 2008

TRACK FOR THE WEEKEND: Eddie Thoneik - I Wanna Freak U (Classic mix)

This has been killing it for me on the dancefloor for the past month. Eddie remakes the old Jodeci M.K. house remix from the 90s. He pretty much stayed true to the original remix... some things are just timeless.

TRACK FOR THE WEEKEND: Magan & Rodriguez - "Bora Bora"

Oh yeaaaaaaaa!

Australia - Here I come!!

You see me? Hi Hater, Hi Hater, Hi Hater

Hip Hop hardly catches my ear anymore but this song brings that old school NYC Hip Hop sound back...Maino - "Hi Hater"

Madonna - Give It To Me (Oakenfold mix)

Madonna rules! Her last album "Confessions On a Dancefloor" is one of my favorite albums . She recently came out with a new album, that I havent heard yet.. but from the singles that were released, i wasnt feeling her new sound that much.. I prefer her sticking to her dance roots.. This is her latest single. The original features Pharrell but I prefer this remix by Paul Oakenfold. His production kinda sounds like something i'd hear from Axwell or maybe Eric Prydz..(Oakie has a part in it thats very similar to Prydz' "Proper Education")... whatever, pop it in the car and drive somewhere...

Bollywood Paneer!!!

So I just got a hold of the final version of my Talli Hua remix thats on the Singh is Kinng soundtrack. The track was sent over to Mumbai to get mixed down and mastered. Well it turns out they decided to add their own Bollywood sound to my remix and soften it up... The mix you hear on the soundtrack is not exactly what it was meant to sound like. They added lil quirky synths and things to it that takes away the energy. Am I mad? Naaaaa, Im happy to be part of such a great soundtrack. Everything's a learning experience... Welcome to BollyHood...lol

*** And before some of you interpret this as im bashing them or the soundtrack - i am definitely not. All im saying is - the version is a little different on the soundtrack than the way I originally intended it to be. They wanted some changes because they were looking for a specific sound. Doesnt make what they wanted bad - just different from what I envisioned. Both are still remixed by me. You choose which one you like and go with that mix.

Share it with the world... Play whichever you like better.

Anane Shakin' It LIVE this Friday!

Check out Anane performing live tomorrow, Friday the 27th at Krash in NYC.

I wont be able to make it cause im djing at Adega Lounge in the Ironbound section of Newark, NJ

Singh is Kinng!!!

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar's summer blockbuster releases on August 8th... well whats that gotta do with me you ask? I've probably only seen one Bollywood movie in my life and im sure A.D.D. kicked in somewhere in the middle.

The big story about this is the soundtrack. I, along with Snoop Dogg, RDB, Hardkaur, Tigerstyle, Labh Jajua, and Daler Mehndi are all on it.

I have done a remix to the song "Talli Hua". The song features Neeraj Sridhar, Labh Janjua and Style Bhai. Its my first official release on a Bollywood soundtrack.

Pritam, the film's music composer says, "I heard Tiger Style and Jay Dabhi's stuff and really liked it. I got in touch with Raj and Pops for a collaboration through my friends who know them really well. Meanwhile, Style Bhai put me in touch with Jay Dabhi, who is based out of New York."

The soundtrack broke the record for the price the record label paid to release the album.

The soundtrack releases this week. Keep an eye out for it... The hype about this movie/soundtrack grows by the day...
